First let’s talk shopping your home for decor for any holiday.
Oh how I love springtime! It’s such a beautiful time of year. I love all the spring touches as well as Easter decor that you can add to your home. It can be overwhelming though can it? You see all the beautiful things in the store, you see beautiful spring inspiration in magazines and even online. Like I said it can be very overwhelming but sometimes very pricey too.
One thing I like to do before shopping for more seasonal and holiday decor is to SHOP MY HOME! I have buckets of Easter decor in my storage room for example, and a lot of it I’m tired of or it may be a little out dated. I always clean through my buckets each holiday to see what I can use for that year.
Donating or giving away what I don’t want anymore to my married children is what I love to do when there are items I no longer want or need. Seeing what I have first is key before going out to buy more if needed. Always start with shopping your home first. You’ll be surprised to see that you may have things around your home you can use to help create a beautiful vignette or whatever you are trying to decorate without costing a fortune.
In my mudroom I added my pink Hunter boots and a grouping of pink tulips that I already had. All I added was my new sign from Oh Sweet Skye and this space was ready for spring!
Less is more when it comes to holiday decorating.
Remembering back to the days where I replaced most of my everyday decor with holiday decor brings me huge relief because… that is no more! I had to put a stop to that this year. It’s not only time consuming but not good on my pocket book or storage space. Instead I have my standard every day decorations in place and then I will add or replace maybe a few regular everyday home decor items with seasonal and holiday decor.
Adding your holiday decor to your everyday decor.

A farmhouse serving plank is my “every day go to” decor for my table. I only have to worry about what to add on it. I like it as a different alternative than a table runner.

I also love adding a smaller size farmhouse serving plank on top of my larger one to give it some layers. It’s my very favorite!
Easter for this space in my kitchen dining area was as easy as one, two… three! All I did was add two ceramic bunnies and this white pitcher with faux flowers to my table. The farmhouse serving planks I have placed on my table I use as my base or like a foundation to my centerpiece or vignette for my table. I bought both sizes as it’s fun to stack the planks as well to give it a different look from time to time.
Adding some more formal touches

Spring colors are my favorite. I love the more neutral soft tones.
For my formal dining room I chose to add a bit more decor as this space is a little more formal. The faux flowers and greenery in these vases are my every day decor along with the candle sticks and table runner. All I added were some cute bunnies holding carrots as well as some spring mauve colored napkins rolled inside some cute bunny napkin rings. I am so loving the simplicity of decorating for the holidays and it now makes me look forward to decorating again more than ever.

Gold flatware is perfect all year round.
Entryway table

Keep your entryway table simple with your upmost favorite and fabulous every day decor items. This is where anyone who comes into your home sees first.
Again, as you can see here this entryway table literally took me 2 seconds to decorate. I add two bunnies and that’s it! Everything else is my standard every day decor. Now do see where I am getting at? Simple is best. It still looks springy to me. If I wanted to add more pink flowers I would just replace it with the greenery.
Easy Seasonal porch ideas
One thing I love for my porch that works best for me are these 2 large lanterns I found at Michaels. What I love about them the most is that its my foundation for decorating this space. I can add ribbon or layers of ribbon of any color that I would like for that season or holiday to tie around the rings of each lantern. The wreath is easy as well. Lately I’ve been using my magnolia wreath and for the holidays I layer it with another wreath like you see here. I added an Easter egg wreath on top of the magnolia wreath. Adds more depth and character. I just use a jute string to attach them together before hanging it up.But don’t forget your cute doormat! I find the cutest doormats from Pier One or Joann’s online. Their prices are amazing too!
So don’t ever feel overwhelmed or feel the need to go out and buy “all the things”. Remember less is more. Keep it simple and just add a few touches here and there. I think you’ll be amazed at just how much easier decorating really can be. Just focus more on your foundation of your spaces. You’ve got this! Let your instinct and what you love most be your guide when it comes to decorating.
Love your gentle touches in your decor.

It’s fun to see all your fun holiday ideas. I wish i had an eye like you. How many years/seasons do you hold onto things. I seem to collect and collect. I need to be better at getting rid of things.
Oh thank you! I hold onto them until I realize either I really don’t want them anymore or haven’t used them for a couple of years. I will hold onto special items that will have sentimental value to me.
Like!! I blog quite often and I genuinely thank you for your information. The article has truly peaked my interest.
